When an artery gets blocked, the area that it supplies is deprived of oxygen and nutrients.
Bypass surgery in Turkey is the procedure in which the surgeon reroutes blood flow to a deprived area, away from the blockage. It is usually used for the heart, when one of the branches of the coronary arteries is blocked.
The aim of this surgery is to improve heart function and relive the chest pain associated with the deprivation that happens when a blockage occurs (termed angina).
