Angioplasty in Turkey
Angioplasty is a minimally invasive surgery that is performed on the insides of your arteries. It is usually performed to treat arterial blockages, especially in the arteries that supply the heart (the coronaries). The surgeon inserts a deflated balloon into the blocked artery and inflates it when it reaches the blocked area to expand the blocked space.
Angioplasty is a common way to treat atherosclerosis and it can be combined with the insertion of a stent, a small wire mesh tube, to decrease the artery’s chance of narrowing again.
